Rendlesham UFO : "The UFO is back"

As Colonel Halt joined up with the squad there was confusion as the Lightalls were not functioning and airmen were running around everywhere with problems from their radio signals becoming intermittent. More Lightalls were brought out, totally re-filled with gas but would still only work for a few seconds if at all. Frustrated by the lack of progress Halt left a group behind to work on the Lightalls and took Lt. Bruce Englund, Sgt. Bustinza, Sgt. Bobby Ball and Sgt. Nevilles into the dark of the forest to get a closer look at the mysterious lights. Fairly soon they stumbled on what they suspected may have been a landing site. The branches of the trees were damaged. Some with marks on them or were bent downwards. Others had been knocked off completely.

Sgt Nevilles measured radiation levels to be somewhat higher inside a small clearing than the levels at the backs of the trees surrounding. Although the levels were not harmful the readings were clearly higher within the area where something had supposedly landed. There is some doubt about the radiation levels and some sceptics claim it was simply natural background radiation.

The Halt Tape recording documents this :

Lt. Colonel Halt: We are getting readings on the tree. You're taking samples from on the side facing the suspected landing site?
Lt. Englund: Four clicks max.
Lt. Colonel Halt: Up to four. Interesting. That's right where you're taking the sample now.
Lt. Englund: Four
Lt. Colonel Halt: That's the strongest point on the tree?
Sgt. Nevilles: Yes sir, and if you come to the back, there's no clicks whatsoever.
Lt. Colonel Halt: No clicks at all, in the back
Sgt. Nevilles: Maybe one or two
Lt. Colonel Halt: It's all on the side facing the [landing site obviously]...interesting.

A number of identical circular indentations were found in the frosty ground and formed an almost perfect triangle. At this time Bustinza had returned to Bentwaters to attempt to replace the Lightalls. Halt and his men were then alerted by the noise of animals at a nearby farm. They were clearly agitated by something. Then a strange glowing object appeared ahead about 200 metres in front of Halt and the men, zigzagging through the trees and appearing to wink like an eye. Sceptics have claimed this was the lighthouse at Orford Ness. But Halt claims he could see the lighthouse at around 30 degrees to the side of the object. At one point it appeared to move towards his men and seemed to be manoeuvering through the tree line. Then the object seemed to vanish from sight.

Halt's tape again confirms this.

Lt. Colonel Halt: Strange. One again left. Let's approach the edge of the woods at that point. Can we do without lights? Let's do it carefully, come on... OK we're looking at the thing, we're probably about 2-3 hundred yards away. It looks like an eye winking at you, it's still moving from side to side and when we put the star scope on it, it's sort of a hollow centre right, a dark centre, it's...
Lt. Englund: It's like a pupil...
Lt. Colonel Halt: It's like the pupil of an eye looking at you, winking...and the flash is so bright to the Star scope, err.... it almost burns your eye
